The Walking Dead BTS Make-Up Photos Reveal the Horrifying Aftermath of Lucille
Spoilers for The Walking Dead season 7 follow!
We've spoken before about our feelings regarding the Season 7 premiere of The Walking Dead (short version: we weren't happy), but damn it if the show didn't smash ratings (and the heads of two of our favorite characters). Ever since the first episode, when Rick wakes up from his bed in the hospital and walks outside to see the horrifying half-zombie dragging herself across the grass, TWD has not been shy about having gory, disturbing makeup. And according to Greg Nicotero's captions in these newly released Instagram photos, they've got the best makeup team in the world to play with.
We all watched in horror as Glenn got his head bashed open in one of the show's most violent and bloody sequences yet, but for those that wanted to get a good look at the carnage, here you go:
[Caution: these images may be disturbing for some readers]
Yep, that's Steven Yeun with a detached retina and part of his skull cracked open. That's pretty terrifying in itself, but the next shot takes the whole thing to a new level of creepiness:

If that isn't a face that screams "Hello, friends!", then we don't know what is. If Steven Yeun answered his door on Halloween with a big bowl of candy and that face (split skull and all), he'd probably cause some calls to the local police department and at least one exorcist. That is, if the more fervent survivalist fans of the show didn't kill him on pure instinct.
Glenn's death in the show matched up with the comic book canon very closely, but there was always the hope that Negan's bat would find a different target than everybody's favorite pizza boy. Ever since he met Rick in Atlanta, Glenn has been a fan-favorite, and his dying words made his death even more heart-wrenching. Abraham's death was disturbing as well, but not nearly as disturbing as the leaked footage of an alternate victim.
All in all, the premiere and all of its possible outcomes are, in the words of a certain Tommy Wiseau, tearing us apart, Lisa.
