Leaked "Spiderman: Homecoming" Action Figure May Reveal The Final Design of The Vulture
All things considered, Spider-Man's got a pretty sweet Rogues Gallery: The Green Goblin, Venom, Kraven the Hunter, Doctor Octopus, the Kingpin, etc. But then there's villains like Hammerhead, a living pun, and the Kangaroo, which is just some guy that jumps around really high. Somewhere in between is The Vulture, who has been neglected in the past two movie franchises in favor of villains whose powers are, you know, threatening or useful. But hey, if Gotham can make us care about The Penguin and The Riddler, maybe the new Spider-Man movie can make The Vulture cool—and a new potential leak may help.

We've seen early concept art for The Vulture from Marvel, depicting Adrian Toomes in a flight jacket, some mechanical talons, and a giant pair of metal wings with huge hovercraft-like rotors:

It's a far cry from the stupid green leotard and collapsible wings The Vulture wore back in those '60s Spiderman cartoons ("Flying moustaches!"), which had no visible form of propulsion besides sheer campiness. This time it looks like The Vulture went through flight school and stole a pilot's high-tech helmet, probably along with his wings. But aside from this little piece of art, images of the new Vulture are virtually non-existent—until now.

A new picture of what appears to be an action-figure version of The Vulture surfaced on Reddit recently, giving what may be a first look at the villain's final design:

Another Look at the Vulture in Spider-Man: Homecoming?

A couple things to note: the figure bears a very strong resemblance to the original concept Marvel released above, down to the mechanical talons and flight jacket. The wings, however, seem to be simplified: rather than the giant, sweeping plate-metal wings of the concept art, the action figure seems to have shorter, more compact wings with feathered ends. The hover-rotors seem to be smaller, too.

It's not clear whether the above image is meant to be an upcoming toy, or if the image is official at all. Still, its close resemblance to the official concept art gives us hope that this might be The Vulture we see in the movie. Will he say things like "Myaah, out of my way, webface"? Only time will tell.

Spider-Man: Homecoming premieres in U.S. theaters on July 7th, 2017.
