New Heroes vs. Aliens Trailer Offers the Best Look Yet at the CW’s Four Show Crossover
The start of the CW's four night long, four show crossover is now only two days away, and DC fans can't wait to finally witness the merging of Supergirl with Team Arrow and Team Flash. Drawing heavily from the famous "Invasion!" storyline, the crossover features crazy looking aliens called the Dominators who have come to destroy Earth before the planet can weaponize meta-humans against their race. The newest trailer, which just dropped today, features the closest look yet at the new threat, as well as some truly stunning group shots of the heroes teaming together to defeat their extraterrestrial foes.

Each of the shows is at a critical point in their seasonal arcs, with the new big bad being revealed and the identity of Dr. Alchemy being outed in the latest episode of The Flash. Arrow's latest episode featured a huge twist as well, as team member Evelyn Sharp was revealed to be a mole for the new villain, Prometheus. Similarly, Supergirl just introduced a huge enemy from the comics by bringing the real Hank Henshaw to the show, also known as Cyborg Superman.

Though each show is doing well on its own, Heroes vs. Aliens runs the risk of succumbing to certain pitfalls. The premise has a similar feel to the type of stories featured on Legends of Tomorrow, which has had trouble since the show's premiere with plot holes, continuity errors, and most of all, believability. Having a team of heroes take on a team of aliens is also incredibly reminiscent of the type of storytelling from the Silver Age of comics (though Invasion! is from the Bronze Age), and while many great stories came from the era, it's also known for its campiness, extreme pulpiness, and pre-evolved notions about continuity - all things that tend not to work for most modern audiences, especially when used in conjunction. While it's still very possible that these won't be issues in the crossover, it's also possible that they will.

The crossover will take place this Monday through Thursday, each night at 8 p.m. on Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow respectively.
