Jai Courtney Says He Has “No Idea” if Suicide Squad 2 is Happening
Suicide Squad may have done well financially, but like the DCEU's other 2016 entry, Batman v Superman, it suffered with critics. Despite this, however, it was reported that a Suicide Squad sequel was in development at Warner Brothers. If that is the case, no one told Jai Courtney, who says he has "no idea" if a sequel to the film will actually be made.

Opening quote
Listen, they keep their cards very close to their chest. I actually have no idea, I pray the answer is yes. I certainly don't feel like I'm done with that character. I had a lot of fun playing him, and I don't feel like anyone is done with that franchise, certainly not yet. So, I hope so, sooner or later. The studio is very busy at the moment, director David Ayer is directing something else at the moment, but I'm sure they have plans, just none that they've shared with me.
Closing quote

Courtney, who played Captain Boomerang in the film, doesn't necessarily need a sequel to Suicide Squad in order to reappear in the DCEU, however. As an enemy of the Flash, it wouldn't be surprising to see him make a cameo in the hero's standalone film. Seeing him listed as the primary antagonist would be, though, due to the obvious power difference.

Still, another Suicide Squad film wouldn't be such a bad thing if the DCEU pulls off its course corrections. If Wonder Woman and Justice League fare better with critics, more viewers may be more inclined to give a Suicide Squad sequel a shot. If it stars Margot Robbie (though she's eventually leaving the Squad for the Birds of Prey) or Will Smith, making their money back probably won't be a concern for WB. But with Courtney out of the loop, it's doubtful that fans will be seeing a sequel to Suicide Squad anytime soon.
