Tim Miller on Leaving Deadpool 2: “Don’t Believe What You Read on the Internet”
It was devastating to learn that director Tim Miller wouldn't be returning for Deadpool 2. When the news that he and actor Ryan Reynolds were having creative differences first broke, rumors about what exactly spurred his departure were everywhere online. Now, however, Miller has finally addressed why he left the project, and it's not because he wanted to make the property into something it's not, as some were asserting.

Opening quote
I just want to say one thing to the geek audience out there, because it's important to me what the geeks and nerds of the world think because they are my brothers and sisters. I didn't want to make some stylized movie that was 3 times the budget. If you read the internet - who cares, really? But for those of you who do, I wanted to make the same kind of movie that we made before because I think that's the right movie to make for the character. So don't believe what you read on the internet.
Closing quote

While Miller's answer is sort of vague, it's at least reassuring to know that he still cares about the project and the fans. He also made a comment that would suggest that his departure from the project had nothing to do with the Cable casting, saying that "Kyle Chandler was not going to be Cable." As some believed that the Friday Night Lights star was Miller's pick for the job and that this was the point that he and Reynolds differed over, it's now evident that half of what fans were hearing about the Miller/Reynolds split was likely totally fabricated.

Miller went on to express his well-wishes for the project, saying "I hope it's a great movie. Because I love the character and I think it's great, and I love all the actors and I want to see them successful again. I haven't met David [Leitch - Miller's replacement] , but he's a great guy from everything I've heard. I want nothing but the best for the character."
