'Suicide Squad' Wins a Critics' Choice Award, Proves 2016 Is Just Trolling Us
Just when we thought 2016 couldn't get any more ridiculous and nonsensical, we get the news that Suicide Squad has won a Critics' Choice Award.

Yes, the same Suicide Squad that scored a 26 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The movie that almost made Batman v Superman look good by comparison. The film that critics loved to hate in 2016 has somehow, some way, been bestowed an award by those same critics. Now, it wasn't the film as a whole that won the award, but rather one of its stars. Margot Robbie took home the award for Best Actress in an Action Movie for her role as Harley Quinn. In fairness, many critics did consider her performance to be the movie's lone bright spot, but the fact that they've given her an award for it is still pretty shocking.

And Suicide Squad wasn't the only superhero flick with a good showing at the ceremony. Deadpool, which actually was critically-acclaimed, picked up two awards: Best Comedy, and Best Actor in a Comedy for Ryan Reynolds. And in the category of Best Sci-Fi/Horror Film, the fantastic Arrival deservedly took home the gold. Overall, it was a pretty strong showing for nerd culture at the awards show, proving that science fiction and comic books truly have become mainstream.
