The New Photo From 'Logan' Looks Like A Neon-Colored Fever Dream
From bathroom stalls to Southwestern deserts, we've gotten used to the steady stream of somber black-and-white photographs coming from director James Mangold and the WponX Instagram. We've seen photos that hint at the death of Professor X, images of Dr. Zander Rice (one of the villains), and eventually a chaotic, full-color one of Logan carrying Laura Kinney (aka X-23) in his arms. This new one, however, looks like something out of Saturday Night Fever (or Apocalypse Now):

The pinks, lavenders, and electric blues look like they belong to a neon sign in a red-light district. Compared to other images of Logan in a blood-stained undershirt or casual blue button-up shirt, he looks particularly well-dressed. In fact, he seems to be wearing the same outfit in several scenes from the trailer, including the one where he apparently meets X-23 (0:40) and confronts Donald Pierce and his Reavers with his claws (1:21). It's not clear where the new photo sits in the movie's timeline, but it looks as though Logan has shed his white-collared outfit by the time he, Professor X, and X-23 sit down in the living room of their little house (1:12).
Apart from giving some hints about the film's continuity, the new photo shows a different aesthetic we haven't seen before—instead of the usual Dustbowl bleakness of black-and-white, which made the movie seem like a modern Western, the stylish 'night-life' colors hint at something more like John Wick's action-packed club scene. Either way, every new photo makes us more excited to check out Hugh Jackman busting heads and crying manly tears.
Logan hits US theaters March 3rd, 2017.
