'Power Rangers' Trailer Shows Off the Zords and Zordon
If you were excited about the movie reboot of the gloriously campy Power Rangers show, this new trailer should set the scene very well. If you weren't excited because the old show was so gloriously campy, this may do little to win you over toward the "teenagers with attitude."

Everything from the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers is on full display here: the suits, the Megazord, Elizabeth Banks' Rita Repulsa, Goldar, and Bryan Cranston as everyone's favorite giant head, Zordon. The giant head's robot assistant Alpha 5 also appears, voiced by Bill Hader, to express his snarky disappointment with the teens. If that last sentence sounded ridiculous at all, then welcome to Power Rangers:

Besides Cranston's voice over, perhaps lifted from the inevitable training montage, we also get several shots of a giant battle between the villains and the Megazord. That could easily be the climactic battle of the film, so hopefully they didn't show us their entire hand here. If that's the entire movie, where the rangers just train, fight some henchmen, then hop in their Megazord to fight the bad guys, then this is basically a two-hour episode of the show. Or at least, an two-hour episode of the show with a dramatically improved budget.

But if you're excited about the movie, that may be exactly what you're hoping to see. This trailer looks much less serious than the previous promotional material suggested, all of which was dark and gritty. This here is colorful, and that's more in the spirit of the series.

Saban's Power Rangers comes out March 24, 2017.
