Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy Starts To Take Shape
Activity on Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy movie project is starting to heat up. The film, which will open up a new corner of the Marvel universe to the big screen, has seen some big names sign on in recent weeks.
The likes of Zoe Saldana and Chris Pratt were among the first to be announced some time ago, but now there is even more cause for optimism with the film's latest signings. Glenn Close recently agreed to take up the role of one Nova Corp's big cheeses and this Hollywood clout is now added to with the announcement that Benicio del Toro has signed for a starring role. It's not yet known just who del Toro will be playing, but his talents will surely be welcomed by fans of the Marvel classic.
Despite these two A-list additions, it is an actress who has no big screen experience who has sparked the most buzz. Karen Gillan, who became Sci-Fi royalty after her role in British TV series Doctor Who, has landed the role of the film's lead villain. Sci-Fi fans will be curious to see how she not only how she adapts to the big screen, but also how she will transform herself into what will surely be 2014's biggest movie villain.
Guardians of the Galaxy, which is due for release in August 2014 will be directed by James Gunn and introduces many to an exciting new part of the Marvel universe. Plot details are thing at present, but expect there to be a whole lot more extraterrestrial action than any of the comicbook giant's previous releases.
