'Jurassic World 2' Image Features Mystery Girl and Lots of Bones
There hasn't been much to talk about, as far as the second installment of Jurassic World is concerned. We've been grasping at straws as to what the plot will include, we don't even have a working title, but now we finally have something to talk about.
Director J.A. Bayona tweeted the first look into the film with a photo of a girl staring into the eye sockets of a triceratops skull in what appears to be a museum full of fossils. Jurassic World 1 director Colin Trevorrow tweeted the same image with the caption, "Walking in giant footsteps."
We can assume from a casting call for Jurassic World 2 that spread throughout the internet that this mystery character is Lucy, a nine year-old girl. The post made it clear that the actress depicting her would have to be able to portray anxiety, bravery, and shock, which doesn't give us much to go with being that it's a film about dinosaurs. And knowing what happens to dinosaur fossils in these movies, we'd be plenty nervous too in a room full of them.
While no longer directing, Trevorrow is returning to co-write the sequel's script with Derek Connolly (who helped pen the first film). In an interview with Wired, Trevorrow expressed his interest in wanting to create a foundation for future installments of the franchise. He also discussed the seeds he wanted to plant in the upcoming movie, particularly in the future of dinosaur creation.
Perhaps we'll get to see a dinosaur marketplace, but in the meantime, we can count on Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, BD Wong, and an anxious little girl. Jurassic World 2 is currently scheduled to come out June 22, 2018.
