‘War for the Planet of the Apes’ Trailer Shows an All Out Ape Rebellion
The third installment of the Planet of the Apes reboot series, War for the Planet of the Apes, is on the horizon and we have our first official trailer for the latest round of ape-vs-human warfare.
If you remember, we left Caesar in 2014's Dawn of the Planet of the Apes after he defeated his primate rival Koba (Toby Kebbell) and secured the admiration of his people. He knew peace and happiness had an expiration date, however, since the humans would be looking to establish themselves as Earth's dominant species (again). Looks like time might be up for Caesar.
The film will star Andy Serkis (The Force Awakens, Age of Ultron) reprising his role as the heroic Caesar, Woody Harrelson (The Hunger Games, No Country for Old Men) as the Colonel, Judy Greer (Ant-man, Jurassic World) as Cornelia, and Ty Olsson (Supernatural, The 100) as Rex.
The trailer offers new viewers insight into the past while expanding upon previous story lines. "You're him," a soldier stares in disbelief; "You're Caesar. We've been searching for you for so long." Alongside trigger-happy soldiers and explosive warfare with expert special effects is a story about revolution, destruction, and pain. As the trailer comes to a close in a climactic face-off, the Colonel asks, "Have you come to save your apes?" Caesar responds, "I came for you."
The official synopsis is as follows:
War for the Planet of the Apes swings into theaters July 14, 2017.
