HBO Promo Reveals Some ‘Game of Thrones' Season 7 Costumes
With the debut of Game of Thrones season 7 pushed back three months from the usual premiere date, fans have been clamoring for any new glimpses into the new season. When a recent teaser showed Cersei Lannister, Daenerys Targaryen, and Jon Snow walking to their respective thrones, no doubt hinting at the war coming up this season, we got a small look at their wardrobe.
More recently, HBO released a promo video entitled "Last Week Tonight: It's What Connects Us" featuring the stars from various shows saying "um" (except for Hodor, obviously) until it built up to HBO's trademark static/choir noise that plays before all their shows. Perhaps not the best script we've ever heard, but the video did give us a glimpse at how some Game of Thrones characters will look this coming season.
Here's the full ad, all the Game of Thrones characters appear at 0:29 seconds after folks from Westworld and Silicon Valley make their appearances:
The promo shows Daenerys listening as her dragon says "um" for her offscreen. She is dressed for colder weather, perhaps an indication that she finally makes it back to Westeros in time for winter. Tormund Giantsbane, leader of the Wildings, looks ready to engage in battle, with a gash on his forehead and frost in his orange beard.
Sansa Stark is nearly a Jon Snow look-a-like with a wolf pelt and necklace that looks eerily similar to the one she wore in season five while at the Vale. When we left her, she had called upon Littlefinger, and the Knights of the Vale arrived in the nick of time to bring the Starks to victory. While we're not sure why she didn't tell Jon Snow about her plans, her outfit would suggest she feels some camaraderie with her bastard brother (or perhaps some desire to take his place as ruler).
And the King of the North himself, Jon Snow is dressed for his new title, decked out in the usual Stark furs with his hair slicked back. Cersei, as we have already seen in the trailer, looks especially regal, which isn't surprising given her location on the Iron Throne. Arya looks much more fancy than we've seen her these past few seasons, and screams while holding her sword. If that's not an indication that she's ready for war, we don't know what is.
The promo also features the likes of Jaime Lannister (who is still shocked by his golden hand), Bran Stark, Tyrion Lannister, Hodor, Brienne of Tarth, Sandor Clegane, Lord Varys, Missandei, Theon Greyjoy, and Davos Seaworth, if you can catch them.
See them in the premiere of Game of Thrones season 7 on July 16, 2017.
