'Deadpool 2' Writer Shoots Down 'X-Force' Casting Rumors

It's not always easy to sift fact from fiction when it comes to movie news. There's a fine line between an insider scoop and an overblown rumor, as can be seen in cases where even credible industry sources get things wrong.
Rhett Reese, one of the writers for Deadpool and its sequel, is sick of this kind of stuff. Earlier this week, we reported that X-Force characters Sunspot, Feral, and Shatterstar are being cast for an end credits scene in Deadpool 2, a claim which came from what Comicbook.com, who cited an unnamed source. However, Reese took to Twitter to set the record straight, as well as vent his own frustration at the ease with which these kinds of rumors can find themselves being taken seriously.
Earlier this year, an anonymous source claimed that Wonder Woman was a trainwreck. We were skeptical, since there were very few concrete details, but when rumors match with what audiences are already expecting to hear (like "DC just can't get their superhero movies right"), it's easy to see how damaging they can be.
But while this is a problem that all movies face, Reese believes that Deadpool in particular suffers from a lot of misinformation—considering all the Cable casting rumors that bounced around for months before Josh Brolin officially got the job.
We're going to keep reporting on sci-fi news as it comes in and flagging the dodgy stuff, but in the meantime these X-Force claims remind everyone that it's always good to take unnamed sources with a grain of salt.

There is virtually no negative consequence for posting Hollywood rumors that turn out to be false, so the internet is drenched with them.

With respect to Deadpool 2, false stories have outnumbered true stories by a large, large margin. Stay skeptical. Avoid the worst offenders.
