Marvel Teases a New 'Runaways' Comic to Accompany Their Hulu Show
Marvel
Now that the Runaways are joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe in an upcoming Hulu show this winter, it makes sense that Marvel might bring the escaped children of supervillains back in the comics world as well. And they certainly seem to be suggesting as much.

In a new series of teasers released over the past couple days, Marvel is rolling out images of various Runaways characters alongside their inner monologues (or just a dinosaur noise, in one case). While they haven't officially announced the new series yet, the art looks good, and it would be the first real Runaways comic since Brian K. Vaughan's award winning series in 2003.

Here's the goth/witch Nico Minoru and the jock/mad scientist Chase Stein. If those sound like bizarre character descriptions, keep in mind that these are teenagers who've learned their parents are evil, and that they've inherited some of their powers. Even though they do look older than teenagers here, Nico especially:

If you were wondering where that "dinosaur" part might come in, there's also this teaser. For context, one member of the Runaways is Gert, the daughter of evil time-travelers who shares a psychic link with a genetically-engineered deinonychus. You know, normal teen stuff:

While the original comic by Vaughan (most currently well known for writing Saga) ended several years ago, members of the team have made other appearances, with Nico and Chase appearing in comics like Avengers Arena. Gert is notably dead in the Marvel comics universe as well, so that's something that'll need to be addressed if Marvel holds a full reunion.

But since there hasn't been a full reunion of Nico, Chase, Molly, Gert, Karoline, and their leader Alex in some time, this looks like something to keep an eye on. Hopefully Vaughan might return, but there's no telling for sure at this point. Look for the new series sometime this year, and the Runaways show on Hulu this winter.
