While tie-in marketing campaigns are usually weak, they're expected - part of the reason Marvel makes so much money off its enormous cinematic universe is all the marketing dollars they pour into each one. So if they must happen, it's better when they're at least good.

And the series of thirty-second Spider-Man: Homecoming TV spots for the NBA finals game is actually pretty fun, all things considered. The shorts, when combined, tell a short story of Peter Parker geeking out over his invitation to Tony Stark's star-studded NBA party and all the trouble he goes through to get there, because it wouldn't be Spider-Man unless Peter has terrible luck.

Here's the collection of all the TV spots put together, released by Sony:

Tom Holland and Robert Downey Jr. appear as Spidey and Iron Man respectively, as does Iron Man director Jon Favreau in character as Happy Hogan. Also appearing are Stan Lee, DJ Khaled, Tim Duncan, and MJ (not quite the Spider-Man MJ), because Marvel and Sony are co-producing this movie and they have lots of money for guest stars.

Besides confirming that DJ Khaled does exist within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the ad gives us another look at Holland as the new Spider-Man. Like in Captain America: Civil War and the Homecoming trailers, he still makes for a charmingly dorky Peter Parker - combined with RDJ's usual style and the ad's decent writing, this honestly makes for a half-decent Marvel short. Even if it doesn't top their Black Panther trailer that also premiered during the NBA finals.

You can see Peter Parker in a non-marketing situation and a more Vulture-filled situation when Spider-Man: Homecoming comes out July 7, 2017.
