One consistent hope among Game of Thrones fans is that, in order to tie the season off after its eighth season, the series will get its very own big-budget feature-length movie. Looking at a new featurette that shows off the making of the upcoming seventh season of the show, though, it's hard to see why a movie would be necessary—the scale of the war scenes in this new batch of episodes is definitely on par with anything you'd get in a blockbuster movie. Check it out:

The featurette mostly focuses on the reactions of fans at a recent event in Madrid, Spain, but even though the behind-the-scenes footage rushes past fairly quickly, that doesn't mean there's not a lot to drink in here. The footage confirms everything that we've learned from the recent trailer—there will be some pretty big battle scenes, there'll be a lot of fire and ice (naturally), and the war is going to be more multifaceted than just a pair of armies clashing multiple times.

At the center of these fights appears to be the Lannisters, whose troops are seen clashing with the Unsullied in one battle, and Targaryen forces in another. It's worth assuming that there's at least three major players in the upcoming war, as has been hinted at by the season's initial trailer which shows Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryen, and an icy Cersei Lannister all sitting on different thrones.

The theme of this series, though, will in part be about the peaceful resolution of these wars. In the featurette, we hear voiceover that echoes what showed up in the new second trailer, hinting that several key players believe that Westeros needs to unite against common enemies...or perish.

Game of Thrones Season 7 premieres on HBO on July 16th, 2017.
