There's been something of a lull in Deadpool activity since Josh Brolin was cast as Cable. It's almost as if, with the big question of who'll be playing Alex Summers finally answered, there hasn't been anything to keep up momentum on the Deadpool 2 hype train.

That's all thankfully coming to an end now—set photos have begun coming in thick and fast as filming gets underway. Recently we got a good look at Ryan Reynolds posing as Deadpool at the X-Mansion, and now, some candid photos reveal the Merc with a Mouth doing what he does best: crashing a children's birthday party.

Here, Wade Wilson can be seen in some casual clothes, jumping around on a trampoline on a hot sunny day. Because this is Deadpool, there's no way of knowing where this story might be going—there could be any number of reasons why the character might be hanging out at a kid's party. There is hope that this time around, we might get to see Deadpool interacting with some children.

No, seriously, it's a better idea than it sounds.

The first Deadpool movie shows a little of Wade Wilson's insecurities, but there's more to the character than just a wacky sense of humor and an love of violence. Take, for example, his relationship with Evan, the clone of Apocalypse, which is a defining element of both characters in the comics.

Based on the hyperactive, irreverent way that Ryan Reynolds plays the character, audiences could be forgiven for thinking that Deadpool doesn't have a lot of depth to him, but, in the comics at least, his heart and sense of honor is greater than the first movie shows—particularly when it comes to his respect for other superheroes (such as Spider-Man and Captain America) and his desire to do the right thing when helping kids that are struggling.

We might all go into Deadpool 2 expecting to bust a gut laughing, but there's a chance, however slim, that we might end up being sucker-punched with some emotions as well.

Deadpool 2 is set to release in 2018.
