Ant-Man and the Wasp is coming out sooner than you may realize, only a year away from its July 2018 release date. One reason you may not know that is because Marvel Studios has kept oddly quiet about it, compared to how chatty they've been about Avengers: Infinity War which comes out two months earlier.

But with director Peyton Reed returning (don't expect to see Edgar Wright touching Ant-Man again), we can guess it's going to be another comedy/action movie. Cementing that is the casting of comedian/actor Randall Park as famous S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Jimmy Woo, according to The Tracking Board. Agent Jimmy Woo is a character with a long history in Marvel comics - and with S.H.I.E.L.D. currently in Hydra-induced shambles, he's going to have the difficult task of dealing with Scott Lang's nonsense while likely working under the radar.

Park is most well known for starring in the ABC sitcom Fresh Off The Boat as the father Louis Huang, alongside other roles like Governor Danny Chung in Veep and an infamous stint as Kim Jong-Un in The Interview, a role notable enough to get the real Kim Jong-Un angry at him. Since his characters are nearly always in comedies, and because he's really good with deadpan humor, there's a good chance he'll be more like a witty Phil Coulson-style agent than a serious, angry Nick Fury type.

But the big question with introducing more S.H.I.E.L.D. agents is what will happen to the spy agency. Ever since the Hydra conspiracy was revealed in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, S.H.I.E.L.D. has generally been taken off the map, with standard government agencies dealing with superhero problems in Captain America: Civil War. While standard government agent Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) appeared in the Black Panther trailer, we also just learned that Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury will finally return in Captain Marvel, so perhaps S.H.I.E.L.D. is actually making a comeback.

Alongside newcomers like Park, most of the original cast from 2015's Ant-Man is returning. Obviously, Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lily are returning as the title characters Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne (you know, Ant-Man and the Wasp). Michael Douglas is also making a comeback as Dr. Hank Pym, while Michael Peña will be back as Scott's literal partner in crime Luis. While it's unknown how many supporting cast members are coming back too, they've got the principle cast down at least.

Ant Man and the Wasp is scheduled to come out July 6, 2018.
