With all the ups and downs of the past few weeks of production on the Han Solo movie, it's good to see that something at least is on track. New leaked set photos show off the fact that production is back underway, and, crucially, the film looks as Star Wars-y as possible.

That Han Solo hair is on point, Chewbacca is similarly well-groomed, and Woody Harrelson's haircut and mustache alone are enough to sell this as a piece of prime Seventies nostalgia. If hair was all it took to make a good movie, then this one would be on the path to greatness. Plus, of course, everything surrounding the characters (it's worth assuming that Emilia Clarke is the mysterious Leia-esque woman in these photos) also looks like it could have come straight from the mind of original Star Wars concept artist Ralph McQuarrie, which is just what the movie needs. The biggest strength of the Disney Star Wars movies has been the level of attention that's gone into replicating the look and feel of the original trilogy—what has generally let fans down is, if anything, an apprehension regarding taking risks.

This is all the more reassuring because our first glimpse of Alden Ehrenreich on the set of the Han Solo movie was, let's face it, a little concerning. The actor looked like a literal scruffy nerfherder, his costume in tatters and covered in dirt, which may hint at what the character's backstory might be, but also presents a Han Solo that's very, very far from the charismatic, savvy space pirate we all know and love.

It remains to be seen whether Han Solo will turn out any more innovative or original than The Force Awakens and Rogue One, two movies that look great, but lack originality. Presumably, Lucasfilm still isn't interested in doing something new or different, or else Kathleen Kennedy wouldn't have removed the original Han Solo directors for going off-script. Regardless of how much fresh material we get in this movie, though, it's worth bearing in mind that Han Solo looks the part, and is likely going to provide a heavy dose of Seventies sci-fi nostalgia.

The Han Solo movie is set to release May 25th, 2018.
