This new Cold War-set fantasy adventure from Pan's Labyrinth helmer del Toro centers on the isolated and lonely Elisa (Sally Hawkins), an employee at a high-security government lab. One day, she and her coworker Zelda (Octavia Spencer) discover a sensitive, top-secret experiment, and Elisa grows impatient and curious, deciding that there's no harm in speeding the process up a little bit. Michael Shannon, Richard Jenkins, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Doug Jones also star.
Filled with atmospheric French music and haunting cinematography, this first trailer makes The Shape of Water look tremendous, if slightly terrifying.
