As we all know, the primary reason that Stranger Things exists is to remind those of us who were born in the Eighties that we are now very, very old. So, in the Duffer Brothers' continuing mission to remind us of our own mortality, a new series of images for Stranger Things 2 has been released, which gives us a glorious up-close look at the primary movers and shakers of the series, all presented as old, dog-eared, folded posters that you stuck on your bedroom wall as a kid. These close-ups are nice companions to the ensemble posters we got a few weeks ago, but also come with a first look at a major character that's been all but missing from promotional materials up to this point.

There's a poster here for many of the key characters in the second season—the four boys of the original season are back, mouths open as they cling to their walkie-talkies (remember when those were a thing?):

Joyce and Chief Hopper also get their own posters, both preoccupied with some shocking thing to their left, but showing just a little more resolve than the kids.

Then there's the teenagers, providing the most interesting insight of all of these posters, as we finally get a look at the new character Billy, played by Dacre Montgomery, currently best known as the dweebiest incarnation of the Red Power Ranger.

According to the Duffer Brothers, Billy isn't going to be a nice guy—he's going to be abusive to his step-sister Max, and is going to be something of an antagonist in the series. Essentially, it seems that Billy will be the new Steve, now that Steve himself has turned out not to be an utterly contemptible jerk.

You can tell that the show is really trying to make you hate Billy based solely on his outfit—a denim jacket and a horribly dangly earring? Violence is never justified, but if Jonathan can get away with beating Steve to a pulp, here's hoping Billy won't get away unscathed either.

Not everyone you'd think deserves a poster gets one, however—Sean Astin is nowhere to be seen, despite being a crucial part of the second season, and having been revealed in previous trailers. Thankfully, though, Eleven does get a poster, as does newcomer Max:

These two are likely to be crucial characters in the upcoming season, so it'll be interesting to see where things go once Stranger Things returns to throttle us with Eighties nostalgia as we vicariously relive our childhoods.

Stranger Things returns to Netflix on October 27th, 2017.
