The phrase "Shut up and take my money" (introduced by Futuruma back in 2010) has been overused in internet memes, but this is one scenario where it is the only valid response. According to THR, James Cameron announced at a private event that Linda Hamilton, the original Sarah Connor, will return to the Terminator franchise for the upcoming sixth installment.

If you're playing along with this game of Terminator Bingo at home, that's James Cameron back in the captain's seat, Tim Miller officially on board as the director, Arnold Schwarzenegger back as the T-800, a writer's room of talented people with impressive IMDb credits, and now one of the most badass female characters in movie history returning after a 25-year hiatus.

"As meaningful as she was to gender and action stars everywhere back then, it's going to make a huge statement to have that seasoned warrior that she's become return," James Cameron said. "There are 50-year-old, 60-year-old guys out there killing bad guys, but there isn't an example of that for women." Hamilton starred in The Terminator back in 1984 but it really wasn't until the sequel in 1991 that she became the strong female lead that Cameron is referring to.

He seems to have had a chip on his shoulder about the character ever since, and recently called out Wonder Woman for not measuring up (in his opinion) to the bar set by his hardened Sarah Connor. At the event, Cameron did not share details about how significant Hamilton's (or anyone's) role will be to the story, but he did give a small hint about the already convoluted timeline and how/where Terminator 6 will fit in.

"We're starting a search for an 18-something woman to be the new centerpiece of the new story," Cameron said. "We still fold time. We will have characters from the future and the present. There will be mostly new characters, but we'll have Arnold and Linda's characters to anchor it."

According to IMDb, Linda Hamilton's last two features were a sci-fi film by Diego Hallivus called Curvature, and an adventure comedy called Easy Does It by Will Addison, both of which are currently in post-production. She has been working pretty consistently over the years, mostly in small TV roles, so it's not like she's been sitting around for 25 years waiting for Skynet to call or for the 30th anniversary Beauty and the Beast reunion with Ron Perlman.

Hopefully her part in T6 is more than a cameo, but I will be happy with every single second of screen time she is given.
