Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is probably going to turn out to be a big success. Why? Because you can't make a movie that has Chris Pratt playing with an adorable baby dinosaur without a lot of people sitting up and paying attention.

Colin Trevorrow, who directed the first Jurassic World movie, and who is producing the sequel (and will probably be even more involved now since he was kicked off his directing duties on Star Wars: Episode IX), has shared a brief first look at the upcoming movie directed by J.A. Bayona. Simply put, it's the greatest eight seconds of video in the history of Twitter:

This pint-sized dinosaur appears to be a raptor of some kind, which may mean that Pratt's character, Owen Grady, will be teaming up with his speedy velociraptor buddies again in the new film. This would be a smart move, as one of the big hits from the first movie was the fact that audiences got to see the original Jurassic Park villains in a more sympathetic light.

Not much is known at this stage about what the plot will be for this new film, but rumor has it that the series will be moving away from theme park hijinks to look at how dinosaurs fit into different parts of modern life. Exactly what this will entail remains to be seen, but if it's anything like the kind of dark, gritty re-imagining of The Flintstones that this would imply, there'll probably be a lot of fun ideas on display in the new movie.

The logical use for dinosaurs in the real world would be connected to the military, especially as genetic engineering projects are likely to create more Indominus Rexes. It's rumored that Vincent D'Onofrio's character will be looking to weaponize these fantastic creatures, and based on everything we've seen from the franchise thus far, those plans probably won't end well.

Considering that Pratt is clearly raising some friendly dinosaurs, we could see the Jurassic World franchise fully embrace some monster movie tropes, with kindly scientists pitting friendly dinosaurs against evil ones in a war to protect humanity - albeit on a smaller scale than, say, Godzilla.

That said, the franchise probably won't stray too far from the established formula. At some point, someone needs to be murdered for running into the long grass, or for picking a bad time to try and hide in a bathroom. The smaller scale of the gruesome deaths in the Jurassic Park franchise is what makes them so much more meaningful than any other kind of disaster movie.

While there's no official word yet on when we'll be getting a trailer for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, it is expected to drop within the next few weeks, potentially playing in theaters alongside Star Wars: The Last Jedi. There's some nice poetry to that, as one of Steven Spielberg's greatest creations returns to theaters as it piggybacks on the success of George Lucas' ultimate masterpiece.

No doubt we'll get a closer look at this beautiful baby raptor and its equally beautiful human handler when the trailer arrives. In the meantime, there's nothing to do but wait, and imagine what kind of crazy movie will result from abandoning the titular theme park for greener pastures.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is scheduled to hit theaters on June 22, 2018.
