Tomorrowland Viral Campaign Hunts For Plot Clues

Brad Bird's 'Tomorrowland' won't be released for almost another year and a half, but that doesn't mean it's too early to launch a complex viral campaign. Little is known about the plot for Tomorrowland, but the cast is slowly starting to take shape, with George Clooney and Britt Robertson announced as the leads.

At the beginning of July, Disney launched a new Alternate Reality Game (ARG) that would send fans on a scavenger hunt for information, which is expected to lead to plot lines being revealed at Disney's D23 expo in early August.

The Optimist website acts as the starting point for the whole campaign, urging people around the world to team up with a young filmmaker called Amelia and "solve a mystery that traverses the web, Disneyland Park and beyond before culminating at the D23 expo". You click through to Amelia's blog, Storyorbit.com, where you learn that she is making a documentary about her late Grandfather, Carlos. Amelia describes Carlos as "a writer who always looked to the future" and someone who "dreamed of a better tomorrow". You can follow Amelia on Twitter to keep up to date on her hunt for information.

The other element to this story seems to be a man named Wallace. He runs the Disney Cartography site and can also be found on Twitter where he posted the curious map above. He also talks a lot about the 64 Worlds Fair, so you bet your ass that has something to do with the plot!

Whether or not you'll actually learn anything about the highly secretive film's plot is yet to be seen. If you don't discover anything, it's safe to say that over Disney's D23 weekend (August 8th-11th), we'll definitely be hearing more about the top-secret project.
