Is Mark Strong The Next Lex Luthor?
The dust has barely settled from Man of Steel's first destructive battle in Metropolis, but Warner Bros. are already moving all guns blazing into a sequel. Zack Snyder et al blew Comic Con fans away with the announcement that Batman would be featuring in the sequel, but what about the Superman staple Lex Luthor? Rumors are flying around that British actor, Mark Strong could be the man to play the iconic, follicly challenged villain.
When quizzed on the link between him and the role, Strong teased reporters with "All I can say is...Watch this space."
Obviously this doesn't mean he is a lock for the role, but I must say, it would be a good fit for the actor who already has a decent Sci-Fi pedigree. Strong has already appeared in one DC Comics adaptation, playing Sinestro in the Green Lantern. More recently though he played Matai Shang in Disney's big budget flop, John Carter.
Strong is not the only actor to be linked with the role though. Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston is another name being circled, with Latino Review's El Mayimbe hinting that the hugely popular figure could be entering the DC universe.
With so much rumor-mongering going into the vacant role of Batman, Lex Luthor might not seem like a sideshow, but if either of these particular links are true, I would say the cast is shaping up nicely already!
