Star Wars Casting Call For The New Chewbacca?
Of all the character and casting rumors for J.J Abrams' Star Wars: Episode 7, this has to be one of the most exciting. A new casting call has been published by the movie's UK base and the dimensions would appear to match up to one of the franchise's most iconic characters....Chewbacca!
According to Denofgeek.com who have spotted a casting call from Walt Disney Pictures/LucasFilm/Bad Robot looking for:
"Male 7ft to 7.3 ft tall with a slim/thin build and upright posture. Not too worked out or too 'thick set' especially in the shoulders. Broad facial features would be a bonus".
Now this is obviously for a Star Wars production, which means that the character possibilities are limitless, but while there may be many 7ft plus species in the Star Wars universe, you'd be hard pressed to argue that these dimensions are anything but a Wookie. After all, Peter Mayhew, the man who played Chewbacca in four Star Wars movies, stood at around 7.3ft tall, while the specific request for someone with a slim build would also appear to match up with traditional Wookie dimensions.
So if this is indeed going to be a Wookie, it may mean that we will get to see Han Solo's furry friend Chewbacca make an appearance in the new trilogy. To celebrate, here's 52 seconds of Chewie's greatest lines from the original Star Wars trilogy.
