Optimus Prime's New Look For Transformers 4
With Mark Wahlberg coming in for Shia LaBeouf and a whole host of new stars on the cast, Transformers: Age of Extinction is very much going to be a new look movie compared to it's 3 predecessors. But it isn't just the human stars that will be looking different this time around. Optimus Prime is also getting a facelift for his fourth big screen outing and his makers, Hasbro, may have just provided the first glimpse of the Autobot's new get-up.
Hasbro revealed the new look Optimus at New York Comic Con today and to be honest, i'm not a fan. Gone is his simple color scheme, replaced by biker boy flames on, what appears to be a highly customized truck. That's old news though and just about bearable, but it is when we see him in his transformed mode, that things get weird. He now has some kind of weird shield/gun gizmo and the biggest damn sword you will ever see. Also, is it me or has Optimus lost a few pounds for his latest movie? He's no longer the stocky brute he was back in the first 3 movies and he's a shadow of his former 1980's cartoon self.
It's clear that Michael Bay and Hasbro are moving towards a much more modern, anime look with this, but this lean, mean Optimus is just too busy. Let's hope they keep it simple if and when they come to designing the Dinobots!
