Meet The Villain Of Disney's Star Wars Rebels
The team behind Disney's Star Wars Rebels revealed some pretty big news about their new show, a show that has been dubbed by many as 'you better be worth canceling Clone Wars for'. Not only did they reveal more concept art (which looks awesome), they also revealed the identity of the shows main villain. Named 'The Inquisitor', this is a guy who Darth Vader has personally charged with hunting down the remnants of the Jedi Order. He's armed with an innovative looking double-bladed lightsaber and looks every bit the Sith menace.
Star Wars Rebels is set in the time between Episode III (Revenge of the Sith) and Episode IV (A New Hope) and it is set to delve deeper into the workings of the Galactic Empire that made the original trilogy such a captivating experience. It's not clear whether or not Darth Vader will make an appearance, but if he doesn't, The Inquisitor looks like he'll be more than enough to carry the show on the villainy side of things.
Rebels is certainly going to have a more familiar feel to it than many of the other Star Wars offshoots. As Executive Producer, David Filoni explains in the video, we'll get to see Stormtroopers, Tie Fighters and Star Destroyers, all of which will take on a form much more in tune with the original trilogy. Using key figures from within the Empire as the protagonists though, that is a bold move, but it is without a doubt the thing that is getting me most excited for Rebels.
Star Wars Rebels is scheduled for a 2014 release on Disney XD.
