Mass UFO Sighting In Bakersfield, California
A local news station has received numerous phone calls regarding a strange object in the skies of Bakersfield, California. Occurring on consecutive nights over the 29th and 30th October, the multiple reports all appear to reference the same object, which many report as changing color as it hovered in the sky.
As this '17 News' report states, many of the witnesses believe the object to be too stationery to be any form of aircraft and, the fact that the light was able to change color as it hovered close to the ground has many convinced that this was no ordinary object. Many sightings can occur thanks to a case of mistaken identity, but what makes these reports interesting is that the witnesses themselves seem to be discounting the obvious. This is not to say that there can't be a perfectly normal explanation for these reports though. Quadcopters fitted with lights have become an increasingly common cause for false UFO sightings and the fact that this object was seen on consecutive nights and in the same vicinity may well be down to someone trying out their new toy.
But could an amateur astronomer's observations rule out a quadcopter explanation? Daron Nunn reports that when observed with the naked eye, the object was just one mass of light, but when observed through a telescope, the object appeared to be far more complex. "We could see everything. It split, it changed shape." said Nunn who was clearly baffled by what he saw.
So, could Bakersfield be about to place itself on the Ufology map? Or is this just another case of the explainable?
