New Look At Tom Cruise And Emily Blunt In 'Edge Of Tomorrow' Battle Armor
One of the most intriguing aspects of the upcoming sci-fi action movie Edge of Tomorrow is the high-tech battle suits that human soldiers will don to aid them in repelling the alien invaders. In Hiroshi Sakurazaka's book'All You Need Is Kill, on which the movie is based, much is written about how essential the suits are to the human cause. Now, thanks to Entertainment Weekly we get to have a close-up look at these powered exoskeletons in a new image featuring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt.
Anyone who has read Sakurazaka's novel will notice the attention to detail in Rita Vrtaski's special red markings on her power suit and for fans, little things like this will be much appreciated. Blunt tells Entertainment Weekly of how demanding it was to film with the battle armor, which weighed in at around 70lbs! But as challenging as it was, the English actress is pleased that director Doug Liman opted for the physical approach.
"Can you imagine trying to walk like you're in one of those suits and they paint it in [with CGI] afterward? You'd look stupid." said Blunt. I find anything that can transport you to the world very helpful as an actor."
