Console Wars - Seth Rogen And Evan Goldberg To Chart Sega Vs Nintendo
It was the battle that revolutionized the video game industry and now it will be immortalized in a feature film from two of Hollywood's hottest talents. Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen have been signed by Sony to write and direct the big screen adaptation of the book 'Console Wars' by Blake J. Harris. Console Wars charts the story of how Sega, a plucky pretender in the video games industry stepped up and took on gaming giant Nintendo, sparking a battle that single-handedly made the video gaming industry what it is today.
The battle between Sega and Nintendo was one of the iconic face-offs of our generation. If you were a kid growing up in the 1990's, the chances are that you held a fierce affiliation to one of the Japanese video game developers. Playgrounds were often split directly between fans of Sonic the Hedgehog and fans of Super Mario, you were either an Echo the Dolphin kid or a Donkey Kong fan. The best thing about Goldberg and Rogen's appointment is that, not only did they grow up in this era of rivalry, they lived it. Both Goldberg and Rogen were huge child gamers, so you can bet your house on Harris's book being lovingly adapted.
Blake J. Harris's book is scheduled for release this year, but no release date has been set for its adaptation. Goldberg and Rogen are seriously in demand these days and the announcement of their Console Wars adaptation comes just a few weeks after the pair were signed by AMC to create a serial adaptation of DC Comic DMZ.
