Disney Boss Reveals Star Wars: Episode 7 Already Filming, Says We're Up Against It
Alan Horn you sly devil, you. The Disney Chairman revealed this weekend that, despite the official start date for filming on Star Wars: Episode 7 having been set for May, cameras are actually already rolling on the much-maligned continuation of George Lucas's epic sci-fi saga. Better yet, Horn also announced that casting was almost complete.
Horn was speaking during a session of The Hollywood Masters, and the film-making giant revealed that there was a certain level of pressure starting to mount on Disney's shoulders regarding the 2015 movie. When he was asked what the toughest part of making the movie was, Horn swiftly replied "Casting." before suggesting that the process was almost complete. However, when the host remarked that shooting starts in May, Horn had this to say.
"We're actually shooting some of it now. Yeah, we're up against it."
Those few words from one of the powerhouses of Hollywood just go to show how important this movie is to Disney. There is just so much riding on getting this trilogy off to a good start that the pressure is being felt right at the very top. God only knows how J.J Abrams is feeling, then.
Whether or not the decision to shoot early was because of fears that the December 2015 release date is looming ever closer, we can't be sure. But with casting not even complete yet, it's hard to imagine that there aren't at least a few sweaty palms at Disney HQ. Still, let us not be too negative with this announcement, because after so much waiting, we can finally say IT IS HAPPENING!!
