Star Wars: Episode 7 Announcement Expected Soon As Casting Nears Completion
Expect a flurry of activity on the Star Wars: Episode 7 rumor mill over the next day or two, because Disney boss, Alan Horn, has just revealed that casting for J.J Abrams' hotly anticipated entry into the Star Wars saga is almost complete. Speaking with Bloomberg TV, Horn revealed that Star Wars fans can expect an announcement soon regarding the top-secret and much-rumored cast.
To date, the closest we have come to getting a confirmed casting announcement is the appointment of 'Girls' star Adam Driver as the lead villain, but even that remains without an official word from the Star Wars team. Since then, there's been a steady stream of names being circulated for the movie's lead roles, including John Boyega and Ed Speleers. However, while the Driver appointment appears to be a full-gone conclusion with multiple inside sources confirming it, the majority of the cast remains a mystery, and you can guarantee there will be more than a few surprises when the line-up is finally announced.
Indeed, it would seem that the only other cast members we know of are those that participated in the original trilogy, with the likes of Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher reprising their roles in a supporting capacity. But Episode 7 will introduce a largely new collective of Star Wars heroes and villains; characters we are told will not have anything to do with the expanded universe.
Horn also revealed that second-unit photography is already underway at locations such as Abu-Dhabi, with the Disney boss saying that the process has been started early to give key filming locations a "Star Wars-ian" feel. But with a December 2015 release date looming ever closer, one can't help but feel that Disney have taken the move to get as much done as possible why J.J Abrams and co. figure out just who the hell they want to be in the movie.
Let's just hope it is all worth the wait!
