Japanese Fans Mock Fat American Godzilla
He may be the greatest terror the world has ever seen but for Japanese fans, the 2014 iteration of Godzilla could do with shifting a few pounds if he is to truly conquer the planet. Fans from the country that created the giant lizard have been tweeting their distaste at Godzilla's new, huskier figure.
"Marshmallow-Godzilla" is how one fan labelled him. "He's got no neck!" exclaimed another. Other highlights include:
"It's chubby and cute!"
"He's couch potato Godzilla."
"He looks like a seal!"
Others are a little more sympathetic, with one fan confessing "Well, everyone gets middle-age spread."
There's no doubting it, the Godzilla created by director Gareth Edwards and co. is the largest ever to stomp onto our screens. But does that mean he has to be quite so chubby? Or, is it quite simply ridiculous that we're debating what an ideal weight is for a giant, city-destroying kaiju? Besides, I think we can all agree that the 2014 Godzilla is going to be a big improvement on that monstrosity from 1998.
