Adult Swim are teaming up with John Krasinski (The Office) to create Dream Corp LLC, a live-action/rotoscope hybrid show about a team of dysfunctional scientists that create a virtual reality universe as a form of therapy.

The news was broken by Deadline earlier today and it will have the ears of Adult Swim fans pricking up with interest as they wait for the next smash hit to come out of the network.

"It is set at Dream Corp LLC, an experimental therapy facility that creates a virtual reality for patients to confront issues in their waking life by simulating their wildest dreams," says Deadline's Nellie Andreeva. "Guided by the eccentric Dr. Roberts, a team of unique scientists document and conduct their research that hasn't been funded since 1992. Like a poorly maintained carnival ride, the program has developed some questionable kinks throughout the years. The patients change from week to week, but despite the advice of their loved ones and their own instincts, they keep coming back."

It sounds like the lovechild of 'Dr. Katz' mixed with 'Ready Player One', which is a pretty damned interesting premise. With Krasinski Executive Producing and Jon Gries (Lost, Napoleon Dynamite) starring, the pilot has a good shot at making it, but it is likely that a lot will ride on how the computer generated aspects of the show are constructed. This is a chance for Adult Swim to explore a new visual dimension, something that they have often done with aplomb in the past.
