New Pictures From Pixar's First Marvel Movie Big Hero 6
Pixar's animated adaptation of the Marvel superhero comic "Big Hero 6" will be released later this year, and the studio has released a series of pictures which will place the movie firmly on the radar of comic book junkies everywhere. Directed by "The Emperor's New Groove" team Don Hall and Chris Williams, Pixar's "Big Hero 6" will mark the first time the animation studio has taken on a Marvel property.
Headed up by the Japanese mutant Silver Samurai, the "Big Hero 6" team have cropped up in a number of Marvel story arcs, but after two successful mini-series runs, Disney is finally ready for the team of mutants (and a robot) to grace the big screen. Here's the official blurb:
"Set in a fictional metropolis called San Fransokyo (a portmanteau of San Francisco and Tokyo), a young prodigy named Hiro Hamada and his self-created robot Baymax uncover a criminal plot and must join a team of inexperienced crime fighters including Wasabi-No-Ginger, Honey Lemon, GoGo Tomago and Fred."
The images feature the boy-genius Hiro as he goes about creating Baymax, who (in the comics) possesses the rather awesome ability to morph into a powerful dragon.
Here's what appears to be the prototype Baymax, looking more Stay Puft than killer robot.
Coming together now..
The finished Baymax looks fairly impressive.
For those of you wondering what the the comic book versions looked like, here are a couple of "Big Hero 6"'s previous incarnations from their two popular mini-series.
The first trailer for Pixar's "Big Hero 6" was released on May 22, and you can expect to see it in theaters on November 7th of this year.
