Sneak Peek at International Trailer for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
For those of you who are counting down the days until the release of Matt Reeves' "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" next month (July 11th), maybe this final international trailer above will help make the wait a little more bearable. The trailer promises epic battle scenes and complex relationships between the humans and titular apes, and ends with the ominous voiceover "War has begun." Whatever else it may be, it seems safe to assume it will be very exciting.
"Dawn" (the full title doesn't exactly roll off the tongue, does it?) is the sequel to 2011's "Rise of the Planet of the Apes," a reboot of the original 1968 "Planet of the Apes." The firm film was a surprise hit both commercially and critically. Critics particularly enjoyed Andy Serkis's performance as the ape Caesar, so much so that he was nominated for many awards from associations that don't customarily recognize performance capture acting.
"Dawn" will deal with the relations between the apes and the human survivors of the killer virus that was released ten years earlier. The two species reach a grudging peace that is predictably short-lived. It will feature Serkis returning as Caesar, as well as Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke, and Keri Russell, and is set to be released on July 11, 2014.
