Physicist Provides Support for UFO Contact Through Astral Projection
UFOlogists Brad and Sherry Steiger recently published a book called "Real Encounters, Different Dimensions, and Otherworldly Beings," which explores more than 130 claims of visits from the unexplained, including ghosts, phantoms, aliens, and otherworldly beings. One of the most controversial aspects of their book is their discussion of UFO abductions that occur through the mind, in dreams, through astral projection, or during near-death experiences. After 50 years of research, they have concluded that UFO contact often occurs by means of the nonphysical self.
They have spoken to many purported abductees, but their primary scientific justification comes from prominent quantum physicist Robert Lanza (voted 3rd most important scientist alive by the New York Times), who recently theorized that the afterlife could consist of the consciousness being absorbed by a live counterpart in an alternate universe. Central to his theories is the notion that consciousness is exempt from the constraints of time and space; similar to the Kurt Vonnegut novel Slaughterhouse Five, it can exist at any point in time, as well as outside of the human body. He compared consciousness to quantum particles that are non-local. In physics, locality is the property by which an entity can only effect change in another entity through physical contact, whether it is direct or through a force field. Many quantum particles, such as electrons, are non-local, or have observable effects on other particles without any physical contact that we have been able to detect.
This view of consciousness can be interpreted as supportive of the idea of astral flight or out-of-body experience. If consciousness is not limited by either time or the physical body, then it stands to reason that it can travel outside of the body and have wholly separate experiences. This theory may also provide support for abductees' stories of meeting aliens through consciousness rather than through physical contact; the Steigers have found that anecdotal evidence supports the idea that extraterrestrials that have made contact with humans are a paraphysical species, or that they exist beyond the physical plane. If quantum mechanics predicts the possibility of true out-of-body experiences, then many people may have had contact with aliens through their consciousness alone.
