Gotham City Nurtures Up and Coming Villains in New Gotham TV Spot
Virtually everyone who's already seen the pilot of "Gotham" adores it, which has only made the interminable wait for the fall premiere more difficult. Luckily, the TV gods have seen fit to gift us with a new TV spot that introduces the villains of this new imagining of Gotham City.
Considering all the hype surrounding the performance of Robin Lord Taylor as Penguin, it's unsurprising that the new TV spot focuses on his origins, as well as the nascent Catwoman and original villain Fish Mooney. In "Gotham," Oswald Cobblepot, or Penguin, is a low-level minion for Fish Mooney, a sadistic crime boss and nightclub owner, while Selina Kyle, or Catwoman, is a sweet-faced but cunning young orphan and petty thief.
The idea that Gotham is a nurturing environment for criminals is an interesting one, and it supports the early buzz that "Gotham" will feature an an excellent sense of place, in addition to a dark tone, lofty themes, and plenty of action.
The first season of "Gotham" will consist of sixteen episodes, and will air this fall on Fox. It will feature young versions of Commissioner Gordon and Bruce Wayne, and is also rumored to include the origin stories of other infamous Batman villains such as Two-Face, the Riddler, Scarecrow, and Poison Ivy.
