Nathan Fillion to Appear in Guardians of the Galaxy
Nathan Fillion of "Firefly" fame is confirmed to appear in the upcoming "Guardians of the Galaxy."
He was first rumored to be cast as the next Marvel superhero: Richard Rider a.k.a. Nova, an intergalactic policeman with superhuman strength and the ability to fly.
Other sources, such as Comic Book Movie and Unleash the Fanboy, then speculated that Nathan Fillion would be playing Nova, a hypothesis that was partially based on Nathan Fillion's physical likeness to the character and partially based on the actor's cryptic comment at the Saint Louis Comic-Con which implied that he would appear in the post-credits sequence in "Guardians of the Galaxy":
"Wanting to get a part? Or maybe did? I'm just saying... maybe? Maybe you'll be surprised? Maybe check the credits of the movie when you watch it."
Today, there's good news and bad news for "Firefly" fans; James Gunn, director of "Guardians of the Galaxy," confirmed via Twitter that Fillion would appear in the upcoming space adventure, but dashed any hopes that he would be playing Nova. He stated that Fillion "has a very small fun cameo he did as a favor to me." The two previously worked together on the horror comedy "Slither."
But for the bad news:
One fan speculated that he may be attempting to throw fans off track in order to allow Fillion to make a "surprise appearance." Gunn responded that he "has never and will never lie to fans."
