Details Leaked about Wachowskis Upcoming Netflix Series
There's a lot of buzz circulating the Wachowskis' (The Matrix, Jupiter Ascending) upcoming collaboration with J. Straczynski for a sci-fi Netflix series called Sense8. In an interview this morning, Straczynski leaked some of the juicy details of the show in the making.
According to Straczynski, the series will follow "eight characters around the world who, in the aftermath of a tragic death, find themselves linked to each other mentally and emotionally.
"They can not only see and talk to each other as though they were in the same place they have access to each other's deepest secrets. Not only must they figure out what happened and why and what it means for the future of humanity, they must do so while being hunted by an organization out to capture, kill or vivisect them."
Each episode will follow one of the eight characters around the world. Filming locations are rumored to be true to the plot— featured cities include Berlin, Chicago, Mexico City, Mumbai, San Francisco, Seoul, and the UK. The initial set-up will hopefully sustain 5 seasons, according to Straczynski, who claims to have structured the series's arc to last a good five years.
As of now, the cast is rumored to include a promising lineup of sci-fi actors, including: Naveren Andrews (Lost, Once upon a Time in Wonderland), Brian J. Smith (Stargate Universe, Defiance), Freema Agyeman (Doctor Who), Donna Bae (Cloud Atlas, The Host) Daryl Hannah (Kill Bill, Blade Runner), Tuppence Middleton (Jupiter Ascending, Trance), Miguel Silvestri (Medium, Jurassic Park), and Terrence Mann (Critters, The Dresden Files).
Between Naveen Andrews and the distinctive structure, this show sounds fairly reminiscent of Lost. Let's hope that we're not left with a thousand burning questions at the end of this one.
