The Batverse Gets Bigger with New Arkham Manor and Gotham Academy Comics

DC Comics will launch two new ongoing series that take place in the Batman universe starting in October: Arkham Manor and Gotham Academy.

In Arkham Manor, the Wayne Manor is converted into a prison for the criminally insane. Wayne Manor is the childhood home of Bruce Wayne that also hides the Catacombs, a network of caves and tunnels that includes the Batcave. Early buzz says that the comic will be extremely dark, and that several of the inmates will meet their untimely end. The series will be written by Gerry Duggan and drawn by Shawn Crystal.

Gotham Academy, which will be written by Becky Cloonan and Brendan Fletcher and drawn by Karl Kerschl, sounds infinitely lighter, as it is essentially a Gossip Girl for the comic book set. It will follow the overprivileged teens at the wealthiest, most prestigious prep school in Gotham. Bruce Wayne is a benefactor of the school, and is expected to pop in from time to time.
