JJ Abrams Casts Carrie Fisher's Daughter as a Young Princess Leia In Star Wars Episode VII
According to Hollywood Life's insider source, Carrie Fisher's 21-year-old daughter, Billie Lourd, has joined her mother on the UK set of JJ Abrams' Star Wars: Epsiode VII. However, Lourds isn't there just to take in the sights and sounds that have moved grown men to tears (see below), she is in fact joining the cast. Reports have emerged that the role of Princess Leia is being kept firmly in the family with Lourds set to play the role of a young Princess Leia.
Although the young socialite is relatively inexperienced on the acting front, Abrams is reportedly keen on Lourds playing the part thanks to the uncanny physical similarities she has with her mother. Another proponent of this latest addition to the cast is Fisher herself, who according to many was incredibly keen to see the role passed down the family line, even if it is just a cameo.
Why J.J Abrams needs a young Leia is still unclear. But if there is indeed a space to fill as young Leia aboard the Episode 7 set, why not keep it in the family.
Could it be this show of genetic appreciation that got Kevin Smith so moved on his recent visit to Pinewood Studios? Probably not. Smith is a hardcore Star Wars fans and is prone to getting somewhat over-emotional at the best of times.
