The Giver Will Screen at 250 Theaters Four Days Early!
The Giver will officially premiere on August 15, but some die-hard fans will get to see it four days early. On August 11, 250 theaters across the country will stream the film's premiere, including live talks from the stars of the film (including Meryl Streep, Jeff Bridges, Katie Holmes, Taylor Swift and Brenton Thwaites), who will speak directly to the fans watching in the theaters.
"Fathom Events is proud to partner with TWC and Walden Media to give U.S. audiences the first red carpet premiere event of this scale and the opportunity to see The Giver in theaters," said John Rubey, CEO of Fathom Events. "In addition to seeing the film before its wide theatrical release, our guests will have an exclusive invitation to join the stars for the full red carpet experience."
The film, like the novel of the same name, takes place in an idyllic, tranquil futuristic society that worships "sameness" and is devoid of both color and emotion. When the protagonist, Jonas (Thwaites), becomes the Receiver of memories and learns about the former state of things from the Giver (Bridges), he begins to question the values of his community and to search for everything humanity has lost.
Tickets for the pre-screenings will be available at participating theaters and online.
