Thomas Jane Cast in SyFy's Adaptation of James S. A. Corey's The Expanse Series
SyFy has just announced that Thomas Jane (Hung, The Punisher) has been in the prominent role of Detective Miller in the network's upcoming adaptation of James S. A. Corey's Hugo Award winning sci-fi book series 'The Expanse'. Announced in Spring of this year, SyFy's 'The Expanse' seeks to take on the hugely popular space opera serial which includes Leviathan Wakes and Caliban's War. Jane's appointment represents the first bit of casting news from what is one of SyFy's most ambitious projects in years.
"Thomas Jane is exactly the type of high caliber actor we hoped this project would attract," said SyFy's Bill McGoldrick. "The intelligence and nuance he brings to every performance is perfect for the role of Miller."
Set 200 years in the future, a conflict between the human Earth, Mars and the human colonies in the asteroid belt (known as Belters) serves as the backdrop for a thrilling story as Detective Miller and Jim Holden find themselves dragged together as they both seek to unravel a mystery that spans the solar system.
Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus (Children of Men, Iron Man) are the pair tasked with adapting the tale which was co-written by Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck. While there hasn't been much news on it so far, Jane certainly seems like a great choice to play the gruff, seasoned Detective Miller, and if future appointments continue with a similar calibre, The Expanse could fast become one of the most exciting TV prospects around.
The Expanse will consist of 10 hour-long episodes and is slated to air sometime in 2015.
