In Life After Beth, Dane DeHaan plays Zach, a teenager who is devastated when his girlfriend suddenly dies. He's shocked, then overjoyed, to find her alive and well, but then has to grapple with a slew of problems when he realizes that she is a flesh-eating, decomposing zombie. The early reviews for the film are mixed to positive, with Aubrey Plaza's performance receiving singular praise. Plaza is no stranger to quirky sci-fi indies, after her acclaimed performance in 2012's Safety Not Guaranteed, and by all accounts this film is the perfect vehicle for her dry, monotone brand of humor.

While most zombie fiction involves some kind of political or social allegory, such as 28 Days Later or The Walking Dead, filmmakers have been trying to put a fresh spin on the zombie genre by attempting to mix it with the romantic comedy genre, a la 2013's Warm Bodies.

Life After Beth also stars John C. Reilly and Molly Shannon, and will be released on August 15. Check out new pictures for the film below:
