J.J Abrams Reveals New Look X-Wing Amid Claims of Leaked Star Wars: Episode 7 Plot Details

J.J Abrams has teased a new physical prop in his latest video for the Omaze Star Wars: Force for Change campaign and, while it may have been intended to get fans excited, the X-Wing in the video may have been overshadowed by potential details from the movie it is set to star in.

While the fighter in Abrams' video certainly looks similar to a traditional X-Wing, there are some glaring differences. For example, this new look model only possesses two engines, whereas the iconic fighters from the original trilogy possessed 4. In fact, the model seen in the video could be an homage to McQuarrie's original concept piece, which featured one split engine on each flank. If Abrams and his design team were hoping to win over some fans, then summoning the inspiration of the late, great Ralph McQuarrie is a pretty solid bet.

Abrams' latest video comes as BadAss Digest published claims that they had learnt of the plot outline for Episode VII, claims that are yet to be substaniated by any official outlet. BadAss Digest's Devin Faraci provides an outline on not only how the movie starts, but what the driving force will be behind the entire movie.

Potential Spoilers ahead:

"Imagine the standard Star Wars crawl, and when it ends the camera pans up to the stars. But instead of a spaceship zooming into frame we see... a hand! A severed hand, tumbling through space. A severed hand gripping a light saber.

That hand falls onto a desert planet, where it is discovered by characters who will be our heroes. One is Daisy Ridley. The other is John Boyega, who is playing someone trying to change his path in life (again, I'm keeping it vague here). They recognize the light saber as a Jedi relic and decide to return it to the proper people.

Their quest takes them off world, and they meet up with Han Solo and Chewbacca, who aren't flying around in the Millenium Falcon anymore but are piloting... well, that could be a spoiler. I'll leave it. Anyway, Han and Chewie recognize the light saber as Luke's, and they say they haven't seen their friend in thirty years, since the events of Return of the Jedi. So begins a quest to find the missing Jedi Master. Meanwhile, on an ice planet, nefarious forces are building a super weapon, one capable of destroying not planets but entire solar systems..."

Faraci goes on to make comparisons of Episode VII's plot to that of Episode IV and the hunt for the brilliant Jedi Master, Obi Wan Kenobi. The writer goes on to state that he has heard good things out of the production so far, but keeps details suitably vague. His comments that "John Boyega owns this movie" may not be out of the realms of reality, but quite how anybody would know that at this early stage in production is beyond me.

Faraci provided further details on John Boyega's role in the movie earlier this morning.

"As others have said, Boyega plays a storm trooper. A storm trooper who basically deserts and teams up with Daisy Ridley's character." says Faraci.

Faraci looks to knock down his doubters by claiming that his new of Boyega's character is "the single most confirmed piece of news I've ever written about in terms of sheer volume of independent sources who agree."

Of course, none of these plot details have been confirmed or denied from anybody at LucasFilm or Disney, so they should be taken with a healthy pinch of salt. The outline provided would certainly seem to work. After all, there's nothing better than a winding quest puzzler to introduce a massive array of characters spread across a galactic expanse...but we'll keep ourselves firmly grounded until we get an official word, thank you very much.
