Obi Wan and The Inquisitor Light Up Extended Trailer For Star Wars Rebels
A new extended trailer for Star Wars Rebels has landed and it packs in so much good footage, it's hard not to start getting excited about this show. But despite the zero-gravity battles with Storm Troopers and the unveiling of a new Jedi, it was actually the two brief holographic cameos that won me over.
Call me old fashioned, but when Obi-Wan Kenobi, voiced by James Arnold Taylor (yes the same James Arnold Taylor that voiced him in Star Wars: The Clone Wars) opens proceedings I was instantly hooked. Yes, I know that Obi Wan will not be a major player in Rebels, but this subtle nod to fans of the brilliant Clone Wars show gives me hope that the team behind Rebels are going to do great things. Equally, the holographic appearance of The Inquisitor which bookends the trailer adds the element of a villain who looks like he could end up being as memorable as any we've been exposed to across the saga so far.
Previous footage for the upcoming Disney XD animation had been less exciting, focusing too much on the fun 'kiddy' elements, but this latest look provides so much more. I understand that this is essentially a kids show, but so was Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and what made the latter so captivating was being able to entertain its younger audience while exploring more adult themes. With the release of this new extended look, fans must be hopeful that the likes of Ezra Bridger, Zeb Orrellios and Kanan Jarrus can at least start to fill the void left by Ahsoka Tano, Captain Rex and Anakin Skywalker.
Star Wars Rebels airs on Disney XD this October, but you can expect a few more teasers this week when LucasFilm hold their panel at Comic Con.
