Red Band Trailer for Hot Tub Time Machine 2 is Predictably NSFW

Unlikely success Hot Tub Time Machine, the sci-fi buddy comedy that's been described as The Hangover meets Back to the Future, is getting a sequel, and that sequel just got a raunchy trailer.

While the trailer goes for a few easy laughs (and more than a few "creepy male gaze" moments), it also has its clever and charming moments. The line "Because everything is like Terminator!" and the "you're a f*cking nerd" song are well-delivered highlights, for example. And although it does traffic in the objectification of women, one can only hope that it maintains some of the self-awareness that saved the first film from being plain misogynistic. The New York Times's A.O. Scott said of the 2010 film, "the undercurrent of misogyny and homophobic panic that courses through most arrested-development, guy-centric comedies these days is certainly present here. But unlike, say, The Hangover, which sweetens and sentimentalizes its man-child characters-allowing them to run wild and then run home to Mommy-Hot Tub Time Machine is honest in its coarseness and pretty tough on the fellows who are the agents and objects of its satire."

Hot Tub Time Machine followed several man-children as they accidentally traveled back in time to the 80's. In the sequel, the gang is back together again (with the exception of John Cusack, who was replaced with Adam Scott as a result of scheduling conflicts), but this time they travel to ten years in the future in order to protect the present. It also stars Craig Robinson, Clark Duke, Chevy Chase, and Rob Corddry, and will be released on Christmas, for some unknown reason. (Seriously, I'm not sure there's a movie families will want to see less on Christmas day.)
