Is A Legendary Character From The Doctor Who Comic Books Coming To Season 8
Never before has an exclusive character from the Doctor Who comic books made their way into the canon of the Doctor Who TV series. But that's all about to change, if the leaked image further down in this article are to be believed. For the spoiler sensitive, please beware that everything below the Daleks could be considered a spoiler...
According to Bleeding Cool screen shots from the episodes that were leaked a while ago have revealed the identity of a character who, until now, had always been limited to appearing in the Doctor Who comic book universe.
The image above appears to show the legendary Dalek killer Abslom Daak. It was reportedly captured during a scene from episode 5 of the new season in which a line up of Doctor Who villains flashes across a wall. Of course, there is no way to verify this screen cap, and even if we could verify it, it actually doesn't prove a hell of a lot. So why write about it? Because Abslom Daak is one of the greatest characters ever to grace the pages of a Doctor Who comic book, and we would absolutely love it if he found his way onto our screens.
The crazed Abslom Daak was sentenced to an eternity of fighting Daleks after he was arrested for a string of brutal murders. It turned out to be a dream job for Daak and he soon became skilled at fighting those "blasted pepper pots" and earned the title of 'Nemesis of the Daleks'. The secret behind Daak's success was a savage chainsword and an intense hatred for the Dalek race.
After his creation by the late Steve Moore, Abslom Daak would go on to feature in countless strips and comic books, and is arguably the most exciting and complex character in Doctor Who's print canon. So even if these latest rumors aren't particularly convincing, it still can't hurt to dream that this savage mad man will one day find his way into TV Canon.
Rather fittingly, the next episode of Season 8 is entitled...Into the Dalek. Watch the teaser below.
